Ould Errachid: Morocco and CEMAC Committed to Deepening Strategic Partnership

The Parliamentary Forum on Economic Cooperation between Morocco and the Parliament of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) is a concrete expression of the shared will to deepen the strategic partnership between the two sides, in line with the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, said Mohamed Ould Errachid, Speaker of the House of Councilors, on Friday in Laayoune.

Speaking at the opening session, Ould Errachid emphasized that the organization of this forum reflects a growing recognition of the need for a new model of African parliamentary action—one that combines diplomatic engagement with economic momentum.

In this regard, he called for a regular institutional framework bringing together lawmakers, public and private sector actors, business leaders, financial institutions, and policy experts.

Reaffirming Morocco’s commitment to its African identity, the Speaker noted that the Kingdom continues to strengthen ties with its sister nations, particularly the CEMAC member states, to promote co-development and shared prosperity, underlining that this effort is part of Morocco’s multidimensional African strategy led by His Majesty the King.

Ould Errachid also recalled that Morocco was among the first countries to actively engage with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and several other key continental initiatives.

He added that the Kingdom has also sought to redefine South-South cooperation by launching bold, strategic, and structured initiatives benefiting numerous African countries, including the Royal Initiatives “Atlantic Africa” and “Facilitating Access of Sahel Countries to the Atlantic Ocean.”
